Why Perform a Factory Reset

There are several reasons why you might need to initialize your console. It is important to understand that this process will delete all screenshots, video captures, save data, and software data stored on the system memory.

Preparing for the Reset

Before initiating the factory reset, ensure your Nintendo Switch is charged or connected to the AC adapter. If you intend to keep your digital games, remember that they are tied to your Nintendo Account and can be redownloaded later. However, save data is not backed up to the cloud unless you have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription for supported games.
