How to Report a Player for Misconduct on Xbox One

Encountering toxic behavior or cheating during online gameplay can ruin the experience, but Xbox provides tools to address these issues directly from your console. This guide outlines the straightforward steps required to report a player for misconduct on your Xbox One, ensuring you know exactly how to navigate the menu systems to submit evidence and protect the community.

Accessing the Report Menu

To begin the reporting process, press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide menu. Navigate to the People tab, which is represented by an icon of two people, and select Find someone. From here, you can search for the specific gamertag of the player you wish to report or select them from your recent players list if you just encountered them in a game session.

Selecting the Player and Issue

Once you have located the player’s profile, highlight their gamertag and press the A button to view their full profile. Look for the option that says More actions, usually indicated by three dots or a specific menu prompt at the bottom of the screen. Select this option to reveal a list of actions you can take regarding this user, including blocking, muting, and reporting.

Submitting the Report

Choose the Report option from the menu to proceed. You will be presented with a list of reasons for the report, such as cheating, harassment, inappropriate content, or offensive communication. Select the category that best matches the misconduct you experienced. If prompted, provide additional details or select specific clips from recent gameplay that serve as evidence. After confirming your selection, submit the report to Xbox Safety for review.

What Happens Next

After submission, the Xbox Safety team will review the report along with any provided evidence. You do not need to take further action, and the process is confidential. If the investigation confirms a violation of the Community Standards for Xbox, enforcement actions may be taken against the offending account, ranging from communications bans to permanent suspensions depending on the severity of the misconduct.
