How to Record Video Clips on PS4
Recording gameplay on your PlayStation 4 is a seamless process designed to help you capture and share your best gaming moments instantly. This guide will walk you through using the Share button, adjusting video clip settings, and saving your footage to USB or social media platforms without interrupting your game.
Using the Share Button
The primary tool for capturing gameplay is the Share button located on the left side of your DualShock 4 controller. By default, pressing this button once opens the Share menu, while holding it down takes a screenshot. To save a video clip of your recent gameplay, press the Share button once and select “Save Video Clip” from the menu that appears on the screen. This action saves the last few minutes of gameplay based on your current settings.
Adjusting Clip Length Settings
Out of the box, the PS4 is set to save the last 15 minutes of gameplay. However, you can customize this duration to better suit your needs. Navigate to Settings from the main dashboard, then select Sharing and Broadcasts. Click on Video Clip Settings to change the length of the video clip. You can choose durations ranging from 30 seconds up to 60 minutes, ensuring you capture exactly the amount of footage you need.
Manual Recording Options
If you want to record a specific event from start to finish, you can use manual recording. Press the Share button twice quickly to start recording immediately. A red icon will appear in the top corner of your screen to indicate that recording is active. When you are finished, press the Share button twice again to stop the recording. This method bypasses the buffer system and saves only the footage captured during the active session.
Saving and Sharing Your Clips
Once your video clip is saved, you can find it in the Capture Gallery application on your PS4 home screen. From here, you can edit the footage, trim unnecessary parts, or copy the file to a USB storage device. You also have the option to share clips directly to social media platforms like Twitter or YouTube if your accounts are linked in the system settings. This allows you to distribute your highlights with friends and followers effortlessly.
